Old Barn Milk Paint in Old Barn Milk Paint in Chesterfield is named for the iconic sofa created in the 1700's for the purpose of noblemen being able to sit without wrinkling their clothing. Lord Phillip Stanhope, the 4th earl of Chesterfield was said to have commissioned the first leather chesterfield settee with deep buttoned, quilted leather upholstery and low seat base, the arms matching the height of the seat back. This sofa retains it's distinguished charm to this day being made in an array of colors our favorite being the rich bold navy blue velvet that our Chesterfield is named for.
